An SEO project puts a Brooklyn independent school on the map. Literally.

The Picture

“We’re a great school, but it feels like no one knows we exist!”

A progressive, co-ed pre-K through 8th grade independent school located in Brooklyn had an outdated website, no digital marketing history, and a limited budget. Their lack of digital visibility was severely limiting the school’s ability to get in front of new prospective parents.

When we began our work, a parent standing on the front steps of the school could search “private school” and our client would not appear until the 70th result of Google results.

The Plan

LFM recommended an SEO implementation project as the best use of the school’s limited resources. During this engagement LFM uncovered several areas of opportunity. For example, the school was not appearing in Google’s map pack due to issues and conflicts with the school’s business listing, meaning that if a parent was researching education options in their area, our client was unfindable and not even on the map!

The Payoff

220% more visibility on Google

The number of times the school has appeared in Google search results from non-brand terms (searches that don’t include the school name) increased by 220% year-over-year.

Improved rankings

  • “private school” — improved from ranking in the 70’s to ranking 2nd

  • “private schools in brooklyn” — improved from ranking in the 20s to ranking 2nd

  • “nearby private schools” — improved from ranking in the 20s to ranking 2nd
